2021.12.01 06:26 JustAnotherSimian Centralised exchanges like crypto.com, Binance, Coinbase, etc are the antithesis of crypto

Full disclosure: I'm a holder of CRO because I think it’s a good financial investment, but in this post I’m think about crypto in a macro sense. I think CRO; Binance, Coinbase, etc is ultimately the antithesis of the original intention of cryptocurrency. This is because we are essentially recentralising something that was made to be decentralised. In saying this, there's going to be a point of infliction that crypto eventually faces where the market chooses to (in general) be centralised or stay decentralised.
Don't get me wrong - these centralised markets are doing wonders for the crypto market in general. They're a fully bonafide ad machine with billions in private backing. They are professional, their white paper isn't filled with grammatical errors and insinuations (looking at you, basically every other coin ever) and they're giving general consumers what they want: an 'IN' into crypto that doesn't take what seems like a nuclear physicists degree to enter.
Where I think the issue lies is that people are really forgetting, or staying blissfully ignorant that if it's not my keys, it's not my coins. Though, it doesn't end there. LRC's whitepaper summarises the issues with centralised markets quite eloquently:

  1. Lack of security: Centralised exchanges can fall prey to malicious hackers. The new bright and shiny intern can accidentally delete a database with just the right levels of management idiocy.
  2. Lack of Liquidity: With more market share, less competition enters the crypto market space. Users have to accept that Coinbase will do whatever the fuck they want to do because they're one of the only options and it's easy to keep your coins there. They can raise fees, and they will.
  3. Lack of transparency: Tether, man. That's what happens with lack of transparency. What were to happen if Binance all of a sudden had a leak that showed directors were skimming BTC? Or paying off regulators? By the time it happens it's already too late.
Decentralisation poses many of its own issues, from complicated use cases, lack of adoption, and less 'economies of scale'. The case in point is that centralised exchanges, specially crypto.com at the moment WILL bring more users because Matt Damon's literally out there saying 'hey I'm a cool guy and you should use this to be cool too'.
Though, at its core, I think team Satoshi would probably be cringing at some of the infliction points that we are reaching. Or maybe not. Who the fuck knows?
Ultimately, this is not to say that it’s a bad thing, I think that crypto is just evolving in its own organic way. That in itself is quite cool to be a part of. Id like to know your thoughts on this matter and whether or not you think it’s true or cap.

2021.12.01 06:26 throwaway505w9294 Since my post was removed for no reason. I think plastic is great for animals(for now)

I think plastic is amazing. Is it great? Absolutely not. I still use Reusable bags, water bottles, etc. But, I think plastic is amazing because economically speaking companies would much rather use plastic than animal products. Its cheaper, lighter, and can help reduce overall emissions, all without involving animals. Alot of companies are replacing wool with acrylic yarn, beeswax with paraffin wax, blankets and clothing made of leather, silk, or wool with polyester, its great and we should support those rather than exploiting animals. However I do think that it would be much better to have renewable sources of materials such as coconut wax, cotton, cactus leather, etc. Plastic is going to play a huge part in helping companies transition away from animal products at first. Plastic is often demonized as blatantly horrible for the environment. But this isn't always the case. As long as it isn't being dumped directly in the immediate environment then it WILL break down over time or can be recycled/reused multiple times depending on the type of plastic. So yeah idk if this take will be unpopular here but just wanted to give my perspective. Also, plastic is NOT necessary to stop animal exploitation. We can use all renewable and compostable resources very easily with the right funding.
Edit: my post doesn't violate any of the rules of this subreddit. So please stop removing it.

2021.12.01 06:26 coljavskiyi Brand New Shiryo - Inu - DAPP based game & NFT’s in development! - Liquidity Lock - Launching Now on BSC

Welcome to Shiryo - Inu

Shiryo - Inu launching now on Ethereum and it seems that play to earn game tokens are still one of the best niches to buy in DeFi! The roadmap details a fully functional trading card based game which will allow for the earning of the native token through different incentives including weekly competitions!
Contract Address: 0x0e675f042b4C4053062e94ff4738e233D846A31b
The team recently released concepts for the trading cards on their Telegram group and their design team has done an amazing job, this is a gem in the making and it is still incredibly early if you get in now. Having only been life for less than 24 hours the token is sitting at just above a $1M market cap which is incredibly low for a play to earn game, the team is really active on Telegram and the holders seem to be diamond handed after seeing the potential in this project!
Everything about this project has been super clean so far, the chart looks good and the website and concepts released so far have been on point.
The whitepaper is to be released today alongside more mockups of the concept for the game, the marketing has been on point with calls from all the biggest names on Telegram and Twitter. The developer even just hired a social media specific marketing agency to help get even more eyes on the project, Shiryo-Inu is about to become synonymous with the likes of Floki and Mononoke - Inu, don’t sleep on this one!

2021.12.01 06:26 crystallize1 The Flagellant movement

"Some kind of electric shock suddenly went through Western European humanity and guided it toward repentance. In place of the almost exhausted Gospels, the Apocalypse suddenly gained new power in the West. Countless crowds appeared in the cities with piteous cries; hundreds, thousands, even tens of thousands marched in processions, scourging themselves to blood, and followed on, with a sorrowful cry: "Peace! Peace! Lord, have mercy on us!" Many historians of the time speak of this striking phenomenon. The moral storm first began in Perugia and then moved on to Rome. It gripped all ages and all social classes. Even five-year-old children scourged themselves. Monk and priests took up the cross and preached penance; the ancient hermits came out of their tombs in the desert (? -Aut.) and appeared in the streets (? -Aut.) also preaching penance. People threw off their clothes to the waist, covered their heads with a monk's puppet, and took up their scourges. They walked in tight rows, one by one or in pairs, at night with candles, barefoot in the winter cold. They circled around the churches with terrifying songs, fell down before the altars weeping, and flogged themselves with a frenzy of madness under the chanting of hymns about the Passion of the Lord. Sometimes they threw themselves to the ground, sometimes they raised their bare hands to heaven. Whoever saw them had to be made of stone not to do what they did. The strife ceased, the usurers and robbers delivered themselves into the hands of justice, the sinners confessed their sins, the prisons were opened, the murderers went to their enemies, giving them their naked sword in their hands and begging them to kill them, and they threw away their weapons and fell at their feet with tears.
When these dreadful roving multitudes were on their way to another city, they came upon it like a thundercloud, and thus the disease of the scourging brethren was transmitted like a contagion from one city to another." ([5], p.748).
The reasons for this mass hysteria are unknown. There is a theory that it is based on a nervous breakdown from the atrocities of the civil war between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines, atrocities which, according to the chroniclers, "surpassed all probability". But this theory does not explain the reason for the sudden attention to the Apocalypse.

Some videogames build a right cracking atmosphere don't they? That in mind, say some Jumanji shit happened, and you had to get teleported into a game, which game would you choose and why?
